Region 8 Championships - Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 February 2025 at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track. 
 
Balmain Athletics is part of Region 8 which is made up of two Zones - Inner City and Southern Metropolitan. Athletes qualify for Region Championship based on performances at the Inner City Zone Championships. U7 athletes that competed at Zone do not progress to the Regional competition. U8 athletes compete at the Region Championships only, ie they do not progress to State Championships. 
 
A parent or carer from each family must assist during the weekend by completing at least one duty of a little over an hour. There are spots to be filled and these can be selected at a time that suits. Please follow the link to nominate a duty.
 
This season there are two State Championship events. Athletes in the 9s to 12s compete on 22 and 23 March 2025 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre. Athletes in the 13s (U14s) to U20s compete on 13 to 16 March 2025 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.
 
Progression:
  • The first two placegetters for athletes the 9s to 12s age groups in each event at the Region Championships will automatically progress to the State Championships on 22 and 23 March 2025 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre - click here for more information including a DRAFT timetable. Little Athletics NSW then selects the next best eight clear final performances from across all of the Regions, subject to qualifying standards for some events, to make up to a maximum of 24 athletes in each event.   • For 13s (U14s) to 15s (U16s) has changed slightly and they will now compete at the State Junior Championships on 13 to 16 March 2025. The first two placegetters for athletes the 13s (U14s) to 15s (U16s) age groups in each event at the Region Championships will automatically progress to the State Junior Championships on 13 to 16 March 2025 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre - click here for more information including a DRAFT timetable. The NSW Athletics Partnership then selects the next best eight best performances from across all of the Regions, Treloar Shield and Country Championships, subject to qualifying standards for some events. Hammer Throw, Pole Vault and Steeplechase will be offered at the State Championship via direct entry.
